This beginner’s section clearly sets out the why and the how to of the more popular methods of Feng Shui, that most people are familiar with. This will suit the raw beginner through to anyone who is still confused by what they read in books and magazines.

In this unit you will learn to understand the benefits and limitations of Popular methods of Feng Shui and why each book you pick up presents a different story. You will learn:

	How the principles of the 8 life aspirations (the Bagua) work.
	How to apply the Bagua.
	How interpret different scenarios and what you can do.
	Some popular methods of bring about positive change.
	About the benefits and shortcomings of these methods.
	To identify common concerns and know how to practically deal with them.
	About symbolism, colour, mirrors, numbers and more.

One of the most important tools in Classical Feng Shui is the compass. Accuracy in reading a compass is essential before you can go on. You will be introduced to different compasses available on the market as well as the Chinese compass and its use. You will learn:

Introduction to the Eight Mansions Method

The Eight Mansions Method is part of the San He system of Feng Shui. It is a simple to apply and provides a quick and easy way to get you started. It has the potential unfold the story of an individual’s general experiences and is of great benefit especially long term. It very is easy to learn and easy to apply. You will learn:

	How you resonate with direction and its affect.
	Easy methods to apply for any person in any building.
	How to set up and interpret your information.

The Pa-Kua is commonly used in Traditional and Non-traditional Feng Shui. The eight-sided pattern of trigrams represents the wisdom, knowledge and origins of the art. You will learn about the 2 fundamental arrangements (or patterns), what they mean and how they are used.

Understanding Numbers in Feng Shui

Numbers represent many things in Feng Shui. When we understand what they mean individually, in combinations and in relations to time, many of the secrets a building holds are revealed. When you understand that you begin to learn how to tap the chi of good fortune and health. You will learn:

	What the numbers mean.
	How to use them.
	How to find luck directions through the numbers and how to benefit from that.

An Introduction to the 24 mountains

The 24 mountains are integral to Classical Feng Shui studies and are also packed with information about the potential for a property to bring luck and good fortune.

	What are they?

	Finding out the directions of misfortune and emptiness– what they are, the experience and the remedy.

Flying Stars Method

The Flying Stars method is part of the Xuan Kong System of Feng Shui. It is quite complex and can take a number of lessons to learn the basic techniques. It is a method that, when understood, can unfold a story of the potential fortune of a building and how that fortune can change over time and when. It is also a method that can be used to help develop strategies to improve the fortune of the occupants. You will learn:

	How to create a chart
	How to interpret and apply the information
	To calculate and interpret changes over time and in relation to direction
	How to develop strategies for health and well being
	How to identify and alleviate the effects of unfortunate cycles.

Water & Mountains
Water is considered to be the one of the most important elements in Feng Shui. Its placement can bring opportunities for great fortune or misfortune to a property’s occupants. Mountain chi is considered essential for good for health and people support while water is considered essential for wealth.

	Learn where these elements can be positioned for the greatest benefit.
	Understand your reference point.
	Learn about their symbolic forms.
	Understand the form of mountains and their impact.
	Find out how to measure.

Advanced Flying Stars

Once you have an understanding of the basics of the Flying Stars method, you can begin to interpret the deeper meanings of number combinations and how they relate to the human experience. You will also learn about special combination charts, their impact on the individual in different physical environments and how to treat them.

With the basics in place, you will then be in a position to learn some more advanced material such as fortunate and unfortunate pathways and landform and water flow patterns relative to your building, if time permits. You will also have the opportunity to learn some of the theory behind the formulae to give you a deeper understanding of the patterns of chi.

Much of the material will be from the San He System, a system not often taught outside the domain of a Master. This is best taught face-to-face.

The beauty of Geomancy is that it is quick and easy to learn the basics, which can be covered on a couple of days. While the experience of Geomancy, alone, can be powerful and profound. Combined with Feng Shui the results can be truly magical.
